Away

After Christmas I made a little pause on the knitting and crochet and after that I made some crochet that I can’t show right now. So there are no news in the wool craft world.

But I have news!

  1. In March I was given silkworms, tons of silkworms. And what did my brain think? mmmm….silk.   So I spent my free time from work taking care of this little fellows. When you have many worms, it’s a full time job.
  2. I’m going to Denmark for a week. \o/  So I’ve been busy preparing everything for the trip.

You can check the progress of the “Silkworm Project” and the preparations for the trip on the blog I write with my husband: http://alvissarar.blogspot.pt/

Happy 2012

And another long time without writting. Sorry I’m a really bad blogger :P

First let me wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! This wish comes a bit late but it’s sincere. Is this a year with unexpected opportunities? Is this the end of the world?…

Well, what’s new: there was too many christmas knitting and now my own knitting is a bit slow. Also I started working more hours, which is nice but don’t leave too much knitting time.

Meanwhile my stitch markers were shown on Episode 41 of the Knitabulls podcast. Yeiii! And more recently on the From beginner to addict in one month blog.

I also updated the shop this week with new stitch markers and lace shawl pins. And that’s it for today.

No Family Allowed – Christmas Spoiler and Shop Update

Hello! I’m finally back. Almost a month without internet…. I admit it! I’m an addict! I’m so happy to be back online. But I have to agree this time without internet was very productive. I finished some Christmas gifts, started new ones and have some news for the shop. First let me show you my finished projects.

On the needles I still have the Fresco Basket Whip Cowl for Knittabulls podcast KAL, the Summer Flies shawl, the Divine Ms. M. cowl, and cotton thread gloves (this last is my own pattern).

Simplesmente não me sinto bem a usar marcadores rígidos.

All this time knitting made me think: I started making my own stitch markers because although I love the look of some handmade wire stitch marker I don’t like to use them. I don’t feel comfortable using rigid markers. So I thought, maybe there are other knitters in my situation, maybe they would like my stitch markers. So I decided to open a “goodies for knitters” section on my shop where I will post my markers. Here are some pictures, hope you like them.

Hello and sorry. I now the winner of this giveaway should have been announced on November 1st (yesterday). The problem is that there were some sudden changes in my life that made me move to a new house this last week. You can imagine, boxes and bags full of everything all over the place. And I still don’t have internet in this new place, so I couldn’t  search for random number generator, post on the blog…

But lets talk of what matter, the Pirate Octopus Giveaway winner. I have to admit I’m a bit sad that there weren’t more participations but at least this means a better chance for you (who participated) to win :)

And the winner is…

Derry Smith!

Derry Smith! Congratulations! :D \o/    You won this handmade Pirate Octopus handwarmers!

I ask you just to wait a little bit longer and I will contact you as soon as I have internet, and a little bit of order in the house.

Obrigado a todas por participarem :)

Thanks everyone for participating :)

Victorian Scarf

-

The Victorian scarf is now on the shop. I made it following an original 1850 pattern, it’s soft, lightweight and warm.
You can wear it showing the black side up or the burgundy, your mood your choice.

The only difference between this and the original is the characteristics of the yarn, color, thickness and fiber.

Don’t forget you can still participate in the Pirate Octopus GIVEAWAY.

Socktoberfest update

Assim defini 3 objectivos:

  • acabar pelo menos uma das Lace Stockings que estão nas agulhas;
  • fiar um novelo para meias;

This year I decided to participate in Socktoberfest and dedicate the month of October to socks. I defined 3 objectives:

  • Finish at least one of the Lace Stockings that are on the needles;
  • Spin a sock yarn;
  • Make some socks with the homespun yarn.
I can scratch the second item on the list.
Remember the wool from Alentejo that I bought some time ago? It’s already spun and I started doing the socks. I spun a single thread alternating the 2 colors and than I “fold” it and made a 2 ply yarn. This way some parts of the yarn are back, some are garnet, and other part are a mix of the two. By the piece of the sock that I already started you can see the effect of the color on the yarn.
For the socks I’m following this pattern and I’m making thick house socks.
And this is all for now. Don’t forget to check the GIVEAWAY, there’s still time to participate
